Rodi Garganico

Rodi Garganico set on the Gargano north coast, in the middle of a stretch of 12 km coast between San Menaio to the east (about 5 Km) and Foce Varano, a community of Ischitella, to the west. Twenty miles (about 37 Km) across Adriatic sea to the north-east divide it from Tremiti Islands archipelago. The town is clinging to a rocky promontory between two long sandy beaches a few kilometers to the east of Varano Lake. It is surrounded by lush vegetation, composed especially of citrus groves, olive groves and pine forests, as well as carob and fig trees. The historic centre, as the city walls, is of Medieval origin and it is characterized by narrow streets, steep and intricate paths, which imply in many identical houses overlook the sea. This is also thanks to orography and geography of the country, growing on a point surrounded by Adriatic sea on three sides, met requirements of seafaring vocation of the town.
